(Torchwood 2.02)

Oookay. Not a bad episode with some powerful moments, but right now - and this is pretty much a first, including the first DW episode where according to JB we weren't even supposed to - I'm really not liking Jack. At all. The whole team, actually.

I was looking forward to seeing and hearing more of Ianto, and snark is usually good in my book, but in this episode most of it was totally misplaced and made him look pretty callous from the get-go. Because Jack's threat mightn't have convinced Ianto, but Beth (and no one, at this point, knew who or what what she was, or had a scrap of solid evidence that she was actually guilty, and what is this, Guantanamo?) was clearly terrified, and justified in being that.

I'll rewatch it tomorrow and maybe come up with a different perspective (and probably another long, rambling post, *g*), but I don't quite get it... I mean, Ianto, of all people? Who knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of Jack's anger? Does he think he's got to prove something? That he'd be making the same mistake again, show weakness, if he showed some compassion with Beth?

The episode definitely put a (hopefully momentary) damper on my interest in TW-shippiness.
