This is kind of weird. I rather liked the first series of Life on Mars -- nothing to go into fangirlish squee-fits over, and admittedly the accident/coma frame story never particularly interested me or worked very well for me, because it was too straightforward from the start, but it was nice enough, the actors were good, and there was a spark between Sam and Gene especially that really kept the show alive. Enjoyed it enough to immediately order the second series DVDs, certainly. So why am now stuck at 2.6 not really having liked a single episode? Sam is annoying and makes me cringe way too often, Gene is simply annoying more often than not, somehow all the chemistry has gone out of their relationship, their fights are becoming repetitive fast, the coma flashbacks are too frequent and too intrusive and the racism and sexism have been grating almost throughout in way I never noticed in the first series...
