Aug. 26th, 2009

Eight hours in the sweltering heat at work, constantly sweaty unless I wasn't moving at all. Unfortunately there were still some 80 customers, not counting those who didn't actually buy anything, so that wasn't really an option. First day of my period too, to add aggravation to aggravation. The bike was fine when I left work. When I came out of the supermarket where I bought carrots for the horse, because it's my Wednesday to check on her, and stupidly enough I offered to do it after work, the rear tyre was completely flat. Pushed the bike from the supermarket to my parent's place to pick up the car. Arrived at the barn at 19:45ish, at which point it was probably too late, or too dark, or too something or the other, or the horse was so spooked by the apples falling from the apple tree, or the noise of the children's toy car, or simply the idea of leaving the herd when all kinds of horrors might be lurking in the dusk, in any case she threw a huge fit so that it took me half an hour of petting, cajoling, threatening & despairing to even get her away from the stable, but even then it was impossible to make her stand still for long enough to tie the halter-rope to the pole. At which point I gave up on being pedagogic, put her back into her box, gave her her carrots, checked the hooves, and left.

Drove back. Pushed the bike home from the parents.

Home at 22:20. Kill me now, please.
