The thing is, I don't really like New Year. Obviously time passes all the, well, time, and while I usually don't have a problem with that, I don't deal too well with the occasions that thrust that fact in your face and demand that you celebrate it. Looking back, I don't feel as much of a pathetic failure this year as I usually do, but I'm still not really up for celebrations. Sitting here, feeling mellow and a bit tired from the hiking tour up the Eisenes Tor I went on earlier is enough, really. I'll have a glass of wine and watch a movie or a couple of episodes of something and then go to bed... It's okay. I'm okay. Actually, I'm vaguely optimistic about 2012; I hope I won't regret saying that.

Happy New Year everyone, and all the best for 2012!

(Seriously, though, when did it turn 2012? It feels like the turn of the millennium was only a couple of years ago...)

For the reasons mentioned above I haven't done an Old/New Year meme (so far; might still do, though...), but since for the first time in my life after I got too old to be forcibly dragged along on the obligatory family Sunday walks I've been going on walks/hiking tours throughout the year pretty regularly, I'm posting some pictures instead. I really enjoyed doing this, getting more in touch with nature, watching the change of the seasons, from the first flowers coming out to falling leaves and autumn mists, and I suspect it's part of what kept me so balanced this year. (A big thank you to green_maia for the inspiration!)

Gorgeous pictures...

I especially love the way that sunlight streams through forest trees in summer, I enjoy looking at a similar effect in our own garden in the mornings, when the sun just begins to appear from behind out largest tree. It's very photogenic.

You're very, very, welcome; it really makes me happy that my walks didn't only help me, but also had an effect halfway across the world. (OK, I know that sounds a bit stupid. But sometimes the existence of the internet and how it connects people still amazes me, even if it's been my second home for over a decade...)

And you can always link to public posts, not a problem!

(BTW, I don't mind lurking at all, I do it a lot myself...)
